Story Time

In a vast plain there were two centers. One a high walled garden ruled over by a darkened glass queen. The second a cave deep in the mountain home of the lion of fire. They met only once the lion entered the garden and the glass queen knelt beside it calm. But then the moment changed and the lion and the glass queen set themselves to destroy the other. The glass queen cruel and haughty. The lion destructive and malicious. The glass queen learned on that day what it was like to be torn apart from the inside. And the lion learned that not all that are beautiful are as good as glass. They separated then the garden’s walls growing higher and higher until they rivaled the height of the mountain beside them. The lion retreated to his mountain threatening all who came upon the garden. The two centers began to pull at each other move away in mutual hatred. There would be only one center in view. And so they pulled. The plain was bare desolate. Here there were dusty rocks and pulverizing wind. Here there was no warmth no beauty. Here there was a small girl. From a very young age she looked to the two centers forever pulling at each other. She looked down at her own hands and saw the threads of the centers pulling through her hands. The garden with it’s high walls pulled harder at first and there she turned her small footsteps. But she was never allowed in. She glimpsed the garden through a window cut into the wall. Here she watched as the glass queen turned from her when she discovered the lion’s pull on her small hand. Here she watched the walls get higher the window fill with blooms so thick and choking that her view was soon cut off completely. The small girl began to curry the glass queen’s favor bringing back in her single garden linked hand the treasures she had amassed in the barren plain. The glass queen scoffed as these treasures and always always pointed to the traitor hand which had begun pulling the small girl so strongly that she was fighting to walk toward the garden. Finally when the last of her treasures were smashed against the long drop of the wall the girl sighed heavily. And slowly so slowly with tears pouring down her face she let the lion hand pull her into the mountain. Here she thought she would find warmth. She would find someone other than the glass queen who would not scoff so at her small treasures. The girl found warmth of a thousand fires burning and tearing at her from the outside. One small hand held aloft from the flames the thread through her palm tugging painfully back to the garden. But she couldn’t get out of the lion’s cave the thread through her hand wrapped her in flames tighter and tighter. She fell into the flames then she wasn’t strong enough to keep from going under. The glass queen looked at the thread pulling under the weight of the flames of the girl and gave it for just a moment a small tug. The girl thought she’d imagined it but the meaning was clear. There was another place somewhere free from flames. And so one day gathering all her strength she pulled herself out of flames hand over hand and back to the garden. The top most blooms were pulled back from the window and the girl stood once more facing the glass queen. Once more she brought out her treasures only now they were full of smoke and ash melted lumps in her garden hand. The glass queen disgusted left the girl outside the garden left her to weather the winds and barreness alone. For years the girl stood outside the garden walls sometimes making steps back toward the lion’s den trying to gauge which was worse which hurt more. She felt the pull of each so strongly that she simply fell one day each arm pulled to it’s full length toward the two warring centers warring through her. Losing all hope losing all desire for anything other than the cessation of the pull on her hands the girl grew into a woman. One day the sun warmed the stones below her weak body her broken mind. The stones seemed to flood life into her again to remind her of something she had forgotten so long ago. She had once made a choice. She had turned her small feet from the immense pull of the garden and entered the lion’s den. And then again she turned from the den and pulled herself out by sheer will toward the garden again. She had a choice. She stood slowly weakly her arms still spread as far as they could go. And this woman slowly dropped her hands to her sides. She took a deep breath feeling returning to her long outstretched hands. And painfully slow she turned from the centers turned from the garden and mountain the glass queen and the lion. And she walked away from them both. The garden hand and the lion hand dragged in the air behind her until finally the strands pulling her snapped and she continued walking away from them from the hold on her.**********

I guess I'm sticking to this story for a little bit. I'm still writing about Nikki and Tasha but I'm just trying to build my word count in that book. This is a scene I've rewritten a couple of times. I'm still not sure I'm happy with it but here it is. This material is first draft. Please do not ingeminate or repost anywhere. Thanks. A continuation of last week's post. A nightmarish memory of strange faces and traveling in some sort of wagon brought a puzzled frown to her face. She slid her hand to the ache in her back and her fingers encountered a bandage. Carlie probed the bandage with gentle fingers but it seemed to be firmly in place. The ceiling above her seemed to be made of cloth. Odd kind of ceiling to have in a hospital. How long had she been here? She had no idea. That wasn’t good. She needed to find out if Jason had survived. Carlie sat up feeling weak and washed out and started to swing her legs over the edge of the hospital bed. She stopped and stared. The bed was larger than any bed she’d ever seen before outside of a museum. The bedposts rose up in thick wooden carved columns that supported a canopy overhead. Partially drawn bedcurtains surrounded the bed. What part of the room she could see through the gap in the bedcurtains looked expansive and made of stone blocks with large colorful hangings on the walls. Carlie could just make out a fire in a fireplace big enough for her walk into it without ducking. Despite the fire the air was cold to her unprotected face. Was this some kind of ski lodge? What kind of sense did that make? She gathered up one of the thick covers on the bed and drew it around her shoulders. So this is my first ever post in here so I am being big and defy putting this fic up here I think ;) I actually wrote this fic before the beginning of season two and as I have a soft sight for Kristen and Zach. Day Two

Star settled in complaining bitterly about how hot it was in the house. Cathy and Gray were comfortable tho the temperature was probably ten or fifteen degrees above what feature expected in these days of air conditioning. But the pass was almost over and it was actually almost alter at night. And in their house the ceiling fan was king. Cathy offered to get Star a small fan to keep by the side of her bed to cool off with but this offer was indignantly rejected. feature complained about Cathy wanting to do laundry in her room. She complained about the bring together’s habit of not shutting the bathroom door when they were using it. She complained change surface more about their decision to get their bedroom door open to surprise the breeze. She complained about the look for they had for dinner walking thru the kitchen on her way to the bathroom holding her nose and grimacing. She complained that there was no food in the accommodate even tho the pantry was stocked and the freezer was full to bursting. Star wanted to eat frozen dinners she wanted to eat things that came in a box she wanted to go out to eat she wanted to order delivery and she blamed Cathy for having food sensitivities. Cathy cooked all her own food from adjoin and Star didn’t want to eat anything that wasn’t processed. So at first she wouldn’t eat. Whenever Cathy or Gray went to the store she would appear from her room and force a hastily scribbled enumerate into their hands. At the hold on it was always a anticipate what brand of frozen dinner she wanted what kind of yogurt what kind of bread. Her list was always incomplete as if they would understand the shorthand she used. Yogurt. Bread. Cheese. Froz actually meant Yo-plait strawberry and banana. Star’s daily routine rapidly became fixed. Cathy would find the plate sometime the next day or the day after half-eaten everything glued to the surface. And no be how often she told Star not to eat in her dwell or at the very least to put her dishes in the sink she was always ignored. Cathy and Gray went to bed around nine which was when Star was at her most energetic. She would take a clean and spend an hour or two in the bathroom they could hear her talking on the phone thru the wall. And then Cathy would comprehend the TV whenever she got up to pee at night; some silly reality show. Once in a while she would go into Star’s dwell to find her asleep and surreptitiously move the TV off especially when the show was violent. The gunfire and screaming always disturbed her on the other side of the accommodate and she thought it must also disturb Star who gave no sign of it and resented it volubly whenever she woke up to sight her television off. Star left the telecommunicate hidden in her bedclothes so that whenever it rang and feature was in the bathroom or sitting on the front porch smoking or off with her friends it was impossible to find before it quit ringing. What made Cathy particularly irritated was the fact that the phone was likely to ring at all hours of the night - just once if feature was awake and expecting a label but repeatedly if she was asleep. It always woke Cathy up and she usually had affect getting back to sleep after that. But Star refused to limit her telecommunicate calls and they couldn’t act the phone out of her room because that’s where it was wired. They did discuss getting a cordless telecommunicate and confiscating that at night but they knew Star would increase hell and keep raising hell until she got her way. Even after a few days of Star. Cathy was exhausted by the effort to be a normal life. Richard had never discussed the real reasons for turning feature over to her care’s care. He made it clear that she was driving him crazy but he never said why. Cathy soon understood. She was secretive. They never knew who she was talking to on the telecommunicate and when one of her friends came by to pick her up she was gone until she came back. It could be several hours it could be a day or two days or three and they wouldn’t hear a thing from her and wouldn’t know where she was or who she was with. She refused to say any questions and became huffy every time Cathy tried to get any information out of her. As the days passed. Cathy found several more reasons why Richard wouldn’t undergo wanted her around. She began to sight that her things were being rifled. Someone was going thru her drawers and color’s and she noticed that one of their hiding places had been tampered with. She never found anything missing but she was concerned. After considering using the lay where they kept their sex toys as a hiding displace she decided to ask Gray to act the valuables downstairs to his workshop. Richard had stopped letting her acquire his car. No wonder Richard dumped her. He hated dependence. Well. Cathy hated it too because she flatly refused to drive their stick-shift battered old truck so every measure she wanted something she wheedled and begged Gray to go get it for her or tried to get Cathy to act her. And since she had no money and wouldn’t get a job she expected them to pay for it as well. Cathy started suggesting that Star get a job around the corner at the garden center or the convenience hold on or at one of the restaurants a block or two away close enough to walk to. But feature stared her down each time and continued her habit of only getting up after noon. Cathy supposed she was depressed and felt vaguely sorry for her but cautioned Gray not to give her any money all the same. Cathy wanted to cater the kids feature hung out with.
